The time machine reveals it all started in the 50s when the Humanic Company began producing ski boots. Over time, a speedy snow leopard became an iconic symbol for an iconic brand: Dynafit. As part of the first trans-oceanic podcast, Doug reports from Germany, where he's been visiting the new Dynafit Speed Factory. Speed. It comes from somewhere.

Along with the joys of heading out on a just-to-far mountain bike ride, Doug provides insight into how the brand we associate with light and fast may evolve. Join us for the ride.

It is time to not only raise the levels but also to get granular about the bike quiver. You decide if Doug throws shade at the gravel scene or is verbally fine-tuning his bike quiver to optimize what a gravel-road-mountain bike can be. And if clip-on time trial bars might save a few watts and seconds, maybe it is time to consider that gear add-on.

Doug and Randy also explore the mertis of a highly structured training plan. The conclusion is to be kind on yourself, know your prioritities, and maybe consider dialing back the training, if not the levels.

On Episode 116 of the Totally Deep Podcast:

  1. Priming with coffee—why am I awake all night?
  2. Road bikes, gravel bikes, and mountain bikes...clip-on time trial bars?
  3. Leadville 100
  4. 120 Travel and pads for sport.
  5. Germany and E-bikes.
  6. Training tips for bike racing.
  7. Training tips for busy people—all training for something else.
  8. Am I an inferior being? No you are not.
